Update on Holiday Scheduling and the Floofins Waitlist

November 19, 2021 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to let our clients know about the status of holiday scheduling and our first ever Floofins & Co. waitlist.

EARLY BOOKING

While we have always stressed booking visits as early as possible, this holiday season presents additional challenges. We highly encourage our clients to book your holiday trips in the system as soon as possible. Why?

Our commitment to the highest level of service.

Like all industries, demand and staffing are in flux. Particularly at high volume times, like the holidays, we encourage early booking to meet pet care needs. We never overbook because that negatively impacts our clients.

We have seen a drastic increase in the volume of pet care requests. This likely results from many factors including increased travel from last year, new floofins additions to households, and the unfortunate decrease in pet care providers resulting from COVID’s hit to small businesses everywhere.

WAITLIST

We appreciate your referrals and encourage you to continue to suggest us as an option for your family and friends. As a caution, some new clients, depending on their service location, may be placed on our waitlist.

New clients may temporarily be waitlisted clients until we can provide Floofins & Co. caliber service. We encourage you to establish your pet with us so that we can quickly transition to providing service as soon as possible.

Floofins & CO. appreciates all of our clients, new and established. We promise to continue to give you the service you have come to expect. And for new clients, we will make your pet a member of our Floofins Family as soon as we can.

Thank you and enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday.

Floofins & Co. Forges Forward Into 2021

January 4, 2021 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

Most everyone will have heaved a collective sigh by the time this reaches you. Sending 2020 packing feels like a huge accomplishment, particularly for small businesses like Floofins & Co.

We didn’t have the year we had originally planned. All of the events and celebrations (NAPPS Business of the Year and our 10-year anniversary) we had in the works had to be tabled. There wasn’t a way to celebrate as planned because of  shutdowns and folks generally being home all the time.

When COVID-19 Crashes The Party

June 3, 2020 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

The Background

Owner Kristin Skelton had been making plans for various ways to celebrate her 10-year anniversary in business. She had grown her local pet care and dog walking business from a tiny one-person operation to a multi-person employer that was named the “2020 National Association of Professional Pet Sitters Business of the Year”.

She looked into various ways to say thanks to clients and employees for the support and hard work. The idea was to bring clients, their floofins, and employees together to celebrate the milestone.

Ideas floated around were “yappy hours” and related social outings. Events that would clients, their owners, and the staff to see each other face to face — something that doesn’t occur often in the pet care business. The global pandemic changed all that.  [Read more…] about When COVID-19 Crashes The Party

New Year, New Floofins Goals

January 1, 2020 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

A new year is an opportunity to start fresh. A chance to reevaluate where you’ve been and plan for new goals and directions.

For Floofins & Co. founder, Kristin Skelton, 2020 is not just any year. On April 1st, her suburban dog walking company will celebrate 10 years in business. In addition to that milestone, Floofins & Co. was selected as the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters’ 2020 Business of the Year!

If you think about the times you most need pet care service you can understand the challenges that come from high volume work during holidays and prime vacation periods. Further, everyone has a story about a time something went wrong when they left their pet to the care of someone else. Which means staffing choices are paramount to success. Adopt a Senior Pet Month

November 16, 2018 by Tina Tuszynski Leave a Comment

Senior Pets Can Be Perfect Companions

Are you thinking about getting a new pet? November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month; rescuing an older pet might just be the perfect situation for your family!

Did you know that senior pets may wait 4 times as long as other pets to be adopted? Sadly, many of them end up in shelters due to unfortunate circumstances, such as a beloved owner’s death, family member’s allergies, or a move. When you adopt a senior pet, you are doing a wonderful thing – they’ve been used to a lot of love and companionship and they are suddenly without it.

On average, dogs are considered senior at around 7 years old; smaller breeds at around 10. Most cats are considered senior between 7 and 10 years old.

There are a lot of great benefits to adopting an older animal over a young one, including: [Read more…] about Adopt a Senior Pet Month
