Pumpkin Season is in Full Swing. Got Treats?

October 28, 2020 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

There is nothing better than the first crisp day of fall. Your dog probably gets more peppy and you might be celebrating the return of seasonal treats. Pumpkin is everywhere.

So, whether you are doing socially-distanced trick-or-treating or just creating a little Halloween bubble for your own crew, we want you to have some treat options for your pets.

The American Kennel Club has three easy recipes for making pumpkin-based treats. What do you need to make them? Gather up the following ingredients and you can create three different treats:

  • Canned Pumpkin
  • Banana
  • Eggs
  • Flour
  • Peanut Butter
  • Plain Yogurt

That’s all you need to make three treats: 6 ingredients!

All you after to do after that is pick which one you want to start to make. Choose between Frozen Pumpkin Treats, Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Treats, or Banana Pumpkin Treats. Or make all three if you are in a super, treat making mood.

Just head on over to the AKC’s site and follow the directions for making these super simple treats: https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/lifestyle/3-pumpkin-recipes-for-dogs/

Why Did The Turtle Cross The Road?

August 7, 2019 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

From now until October you may see turtles crossing the road. Or, if you live near a body of water, they may appear in your backyard.

According to the Turtle Rescue League, in “late summer and fall, hatchling turtles are digging up from nests, looking for water and later on males and females are heading to places to hibernate.”

If you find a turtle crossing the road, make sure you stop in a safe location before assisting the turtle. Keep it low to the ground in case you drop it if it kicks itself out of your hands, pick it up on the sides of the shell not the tail, and do not turn it around. If you have a snapper, use a blunt object to scoot it across the road so you don’t hurt it. You can wait to make sure it doesn’t turn around to recross the road before you leave. Backyard Chickens

July 17, 2019 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

Ever wake up one morning and think, “Forget this city life! I’m going to move to the middle of nowhere and live off the land!”

Well, you can get a little taste of that experience before making the full-fledged leap to the pioneer lifestyle by trying out some backyard chickens. What are backyard chickens? They are suburbanites raising chickens in their small yards as pets and for eggs.  [Read more…] about Backyard Chickens
