Calling all animal lovers in La Grange and surrounding areas of Chicagoland! The highly anticipated La Grange Pet Parade is back for another year of tail wags, playful barks, and heartwarming moments. Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at 9:30 am because the La Grange 2024 Pet Parade is Pawing its Way to Chicagoland!

The La Grange 2024 Pet Parade: History

For over 70 years, the La Grange Pet Parade has been a cornerstone event, kicking off the summer season and celebrating the unique bond between humans and their pets. It’s a sight to behold – a vibrant spectacle of costumed canines, proud felines, and all sorts of creatures great and small parading down the street, cheered on by a supportive community.

According to the event website, “The La Grange Pet Parade began in 1947 by the La Grange Chamber of Commerce, whose president was Ed Breen of Breen’s Cleaners, intending to bring the community together around the idea of a pet and child costume contest parading down the main street of the village.”

Today, the parade costs almost $100k to execute and attracts thousands of participants and spectators annually.

The La Grange 2024 Pet Parade: Fundraising

This year’s parade promises to be even more special as it partners with Chicago-based K9s for Veterans, a worthy organization dedicated to pairing veterans with service dogs. The event serves not only as a celebration of pets but also as an opportunity to raise awareness about the positive impact these animals can have on veterans’ lives. This amazing organization trains service dogs for veterans with PTSD and other ailments. Learn more here.
