Guess who turned 14 on April 1st? That’s right! We’re celebrating Floofins & Co.’s 14 years serving Chicagoland. Today, we want to take the opportunity to shout out all the ways that we’ve grown and thank those who have made our success possible. With Prissy and Portia – The Original Floofins – by our side, we’ve become the most respected dog walking and pet sitting company in Brookfield, Burr Ridge, Clarendon Hills, Darien, and Downers Grove. I attended my first pet sitters conference in early 2010. I was the only attendee of the NAPPS Conference that year who hadn’t started a business. Members still remember that about me. They praise my forethought and diligence. I say it’s just the way I’m built.

After having issues finding exceptional in-home pet care for Portia and Priscilla, I was determined to create “A Kenneling Alternative” for pet parents like me. While I knew I had the passion and business acumen to make it happen, I felt that coming face-to-face with members of the industry was a good first step.

As I’d hoped, the conference helped me take the next big step – leaving the corporate world and diving straight into the world of pet care.

Today, 14 years, a global pandemic, and two children later, I am in awe of what we’ve accomplished. Our relentless pursuit of excellence has paid off. Among other things, it’s allowed us to bring together an outstanding group of dedicated administrative employees, pet care specialists, and after-hours support personnel that keep our business running smoothly seven days a week, 365 days a year. (It’s 366 days in 2014 but who’s counting?!)

Floofins & Co. was created to revolutionize the way Chicago pet parents delegate their pets’ care.

I didn’t want to be as educated as the competition, I wanted to be a NAPPS Certified Professional Pet Sitter. I didn’t want to hire staff, I wanted to prioritize in-depth new-hire training and ongoing education so that my staff would be the best in town. I wanted to use technology to facilitate peace of mind through transparency and communication. I wanted to elevate the industry, starting right here in Chicago. I was nationally recognized a few years ago for these efforts as the recipient of the 2020 NAPPS Business of the Year award.

From our first day in business, Floofins & Co. has been licensed, bonded, and insured. Our team is trained in Pet First Aid & CPR, our business is staffed 24/7, and we are constantly raising the bar on quality and dedication. We’ve taken every step necessary to protect our team and our clients. While we’ve rarely needed any of these safeguards, our desire to be proactive and preventive steers our ship. It always has and it always will.
