Dear Floofy Column – July 2015
Dear Floofy,
With school out, I have kids and dogs roaming my house with a lot of complaints about boredom. What should I do?
Sincerely,
When Does School Start Up Again
Dear School,
Floofy knows the school year schedule by the barks of her floofin as the kiddos hike past the house en route to the bus stop. Floofy knows summer has started when she can make it past 6:45 a.m. on a weekday morning without hearing a ruckus at the front window.
Floofy suggests you find a dog training facility where your child, assuming age and maturity appropriate, and floofin can learn a new skill. Maybe a frisbee class, or agility, basic or advanced obedience training, or even dock diving. Giving your child a chance to take the reins may not only alleviate that summer boredom but give both floofin and child exercise, stimulation, and something to work on between classes. Who knows? You might have a star performing dog and/or a future trainer on your hands! Either way, you solve two problems with one activity.
So until the barks of my floofin mark the return of school days, enjoy the opportunity to eliminate boredom, bond your children and pets in joint activity, and hopefully create a new lifelong hobby.
