Earlier this month, we celebrated our favorite dog and cat moms. Today, we’re shining a light on the Real Dog Moms of Chicago (RDMOC), a volunteer-driven fundraising organization at the heart of Chicago’s dog-loving community. Founded in 2017, RDMOC has become a beloved hub for pet parents, local businesses, and animal rescues, all united by a simple motto: “Doing Good While Having Fun.” Through creative events, fundraisers, and a deep commitment to animal welfare in Chicagoland, the group has raised over $200,000 for local rescues, making a tangible difference for countless pets in need. Today, we’re celebrating The Real Dog Moms of Chicago and why groups like theirs are important in areas like ours.
Connecting Dog Lovers, Businesses, and Rescues
RDMOC’s mission is to create a vibrant community where dog lovers can connect with each other, support local businesses, and most importantly, give back to animal rescues. The organization hosts a variety of dog-friendly events throughout the year, ranging from social gatherings like annual canine cruises to holiday photos, themed parties, and educational workshops. Every event is designed to be inclusive and fun, welcoming dogs of all breeds, sizes, and backgrounds and the humans that love them.
A hallmark of RDMOC’s approach is their partnership with Chicago-based businesses. When they host an event, they leverage their network to bring in dog owners and ask participating businesses to donate a portion of proceeds to a rescue partner. This model ensures that every gathering not only strengthens community bonds but also provides critical financial support to organizations saving local animals.
Fundraisers and Impact
RDMOC’s fundraisers are as creative as they are impactful. Despite challenges, RDMOC continues to innovate, raising over $216,000 for dozens of rescue partners including Hinsdale Humane Society since 2017. Every penny from ticket sales, merchandise, and event proceeds goes directly to animal welfare; the organization itself keeps no income for itself.
The Real Dog Moms of Chicago
Through its tireless fundraising, community-building events, and advocacy, Real Dog Moms of Chicago has been a vital force for good in the city’s pet scene since 2017. They not only help fund life-saving rescue work but also foster a supportive, inclusive community where every dog and every dog lover has a place!
You can support RDMOC by purchasing some of their merch. We in no way benefit from this shout-out but we love their fun styles and slogans. “I’d pet that” is made me laugh out loud.
