Happy 12th Birthday, Floofins & Co.!

April 1, 2022 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

Today marks our 12th anniversary and we are so glad to still be in business despite the impact of the global pandemic. We want to thank each of our clients for their continued support and our staff for their loyalty and determination.

As we kick off our 12th year in business, there are many things that we have planned that we are excited to share with you. Let’s get right to it!

What’s Ahead

First, our dog training program is up and running. If you have a pandemic pet or one that has forgotten what it is like to be around other humans, now is the time to lock in some training. Pop over to the website to check out the various options. Let our trainers concentrate on the specifics you want to work on. All classes are individual and are designed to meet your particular needs.

Second, we will be launching our Floofins Couture line soon. Stay tuned for details. After we do a test run with our staff, we will provide you all the details on how you can rock your Floofins attire. You’ve asked and one of the benefits of the pandemic was some time to develop this line of products. Information coming soon!

Finally, we know that many small pet care companies did not survive the shutdown. While we are always happy to bring new clients into our family, the influx between demand and available staff forced us to establish our first ever waitlist. We hope to add those patient future floofins family members to the fold soon. Thanks to our clients for helping us locate some additional staff!

We can’t emphasize how much we appreciate our clients. Thanks for sticking with us and we hope that 2022 – our 12th year in business – is the start to some great moments ahead. Happy Birthday, Floofins & Co.!

Be Kind To Animals Week

May 6, 2020 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

When you take part in Be Kind to Animals Week, you become part of a celebration of one of the longest commemorative weeks in U.S. history. According to American Humane’s website, they began the event in 1915. It is celebrated the first full week of May annually.

This year, the week kicks off May 3rd and runs through the 9th.

American Humane suggests several different ways that you can get involved this year. They include:

  • Taking a kindness pledge;
  • Adopt from a shelter or rescue;
  • Commit to year round kindness; and
  • Showing support on social media.

By visiting their website you can select one of four (or all) of the kindness pledges available. You complete your name and email and will receive your pledge electronically.  [Read more…] about Be Kind To Animals Week

Pet Poison Prevention Week

March 18, 2020 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

The third week of March has been designated as Pet Poison Prevention Week for over 50 years.

How often do you think about what might be poisonous to your pet? Before you bring them into your home? After they’ve eaten something that has fallen on the floor? Immediately upon reentering the room after leaving a pan of brownies on the stove in what should have been a safe distance to find half the pan eaten and your dog’s guilty grin greeting you?

Let’s take a moment to consider what might cause dire harm or death to your pet upon ingestion and what actions you can or should take if that occurs.

There’s a very handy search engine on https://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/poisons/. Type in the item ingested and get information on what to do.

Further, Pet Poison Helpline is a 24-hour pet poison control center. There is a fee involved if you use their services. Or, they can help you locate an emergency vet near you.

Their website includes guides on pet safety and how to spot potential poisons in each room of your house and even by holidays.With Easter approaching, you can read about possible poisonings that can occur during that time frame at https://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/pet-owners/seasons/easter/.

The top dog poison is chocolate and the top cat poison is lilies. See the complete list by clicking here.
