Doggie Date Night Adventures: The Blowout

February 8, 2021 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

February 3rd was the official Doggie Date Night. But, you can have one of your very own any night of the week.

The folks over at Pethelpful have a list of 10 ideas you can borrow for date night by clicking here.

Floofins & Co. held a Floofins FM event on Facebook live to show you how to prepare your floofy dog for a date night. We lovingly referred to it as a doggie blowout. Mandy showed us how to do one on her own floofin. Check out the fun on our Facebook page and watch it now if you missed the live event.

Or if you just want the video without commentary, check it out here: https://www.wevideo.com/view/2035422812.

Which leads us to some of our favorite date night ideas:

  1. Movie and Grooming

What better way to spend a cozy evening in? Grab a brush, your floofin, and a good movie and get grooming. Your pet will love the time spent being rubbed and brushed (or at least the attention being paid to them if they aren’t into that whole spiffing up process) and you get a gorgeous result! All while being able to watch a good movie of your choice.

  1. Letting it Hang Out

We certainly don’t advocate for letting your pet hang their head out of the window of a car, if you have a neighborhood that you can get some car outing time in without being a nuisance this might be an option. Take you floofin out and let them hang their head out while you drive extremely slowly. No projectiles incoming at high rates of speed to damage the eyes, just a leisurely opportunity to sniff from the warmth of the car. It might also help you make sure your car still works if you haven’t been driving much lately.

  1. Photo Shoots

YES! There is nothing better than a great photo of your pet. Ask any pet lover how many pictures of their pet are on their phone and they may just tell you, “all of them.” Set up a time that you can pose your pet in those ways you always imagined and lock in memories now. Especially if you’ve given them the doggie blowout treatment and they are looking fine.

Be creative, have fun, but mostly enjoy your time with your floofin. We know it goes by quickly.

When COVID-19 Crashes The Party

June 3, 2020 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

The Background

Owner Kristin Skelton had been making plans for various ways to celebrate her 10-year anniversary in business. She had grown her local pet care and dog walking business from a tiny one-person operation to a multi-person employer that was named the “2020 National Association of Professional Pet Sitters Business of the Year”.

She looked into various ways to say thanks to clients and employees for the support and hard work. The idea was to bring clients, their floofins, and employees together to celebrate the milestone.

Ideas floated around were “yappy hours” and related social outings. Events that would clients, their owners, and the staff to see each other face to face — something that doesn’t occur often in the pet care business. The global pandemic changed all that.  [Read more…] about When COVID-19 Crashes The Party

Floofins and Company Celebrates 10 Years In Business

April 1, 2020 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

Floofins & Co. celebrates their tenth birthday today.

Ten years means we have a lot of memories. We have lots of lessons learned and a bunch of great stories. We have great clients. And we had planned to celebrate with a number of ideas we’ve been discussing since last year. Ways to say thanks for keeping us busy and referring us to your friends and neighbors.

And as we’ve learned over the years, even the best laid plans can get knocked off course. We couldn’t have imagined the way 2020 was going to shape up.

First, we learned that NAPPS had named us their 2020 Business of the Year. It is an incredible honor and one that we wanted to celebrate with both staff and clients. Because we know that without both, our business would not be what it is today. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Like all small businesses, we are trying to weather this current shelter-in-place order. We continue to provide service to our clients working as essential service members, our staff as they manage smaller routes, and still keep the lights on at Floofins HQ. It has been challenging, but we are hanging in there with all of you.

We know that you want to get back to normal as soon as possible and so do we. We miss your floofins!

Until that time arrives, we plan to do as much of our 10-year anniversary celebration as we can manage. We will be doing a video series in the coming months highlighting the top 10 questions you have about Floofins & Co. Have you wondered how something works? What it take to have a dog walking company? What courses we teach at Floofin U? You ask and we will answer! Send your questions to info@floofinsandco.com with the subject line Video Questions. If you’re feeling adventurous, send us a video of you or your floofin asking your question.

Thanks for being with us during the last ten years and we hope to be back out at full capacity caring for your floofins soon.

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

August 28, 2019 by Jennifer Houghton Leave a Comment

“You have to get it through your head that the dog won’t live forever.” This was the advice my dad began offering to me as my dog approached double digits. And my response was always the same.

“Nope. We will always be together,” I would say back to him. And then I would hear the sigh of resignation. The sound he has made so many times before when he realized there wasn’t any way to convince me I might be incorrect.

No big surprise to this story, right? I lost him. I had to make that decision every pet parent dreads. And on Valentine’s Day 2012, I made good on the promise I gave that floofin two weeks prior when the vet told me he had cancer. I looked at this dog that I knew wasn’t going to get any better, who wasn’t himself anymore, and whose suffering was beyond the level I could bear him to be in. The vet assured me afterwards that he wouldn’t have made it through the night.  [Read more…] about Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day
