Save Our Pets Program

The Elmhurst Fire Department is encouraging all pet owners to participate in the City’s “Save Our Pets” program. Fill out the online submission form on this webpage to claim a window cling that allows first responders to quickly know how many pets are in your home in case of an emergency. Window clings are also available for pick up at City Hall, 209 N. York St.

March 2025

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Take a dog-friendly field trip on Saturday, March 15th from 12:15 PM to 2:00 PM in downtown Chicago for one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parades in the country. This annual downtown St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrates the patron saint of Ireland. The parade starts at Balbo and Columbus Drive and proceeds north on Columbus to Monroe Street.

April 2025

The Doggy Egg Hunt will be held from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM on April 5, 2025 at Clow Stephens Community Park Dog Park in Plainfield, IL. Sponsored by Plainfield Park District, admission is $8 per dog for residents and $10 per dog for non-residents. All dogs must be vaccinated and leashed and will sniff out colorful eggs filled with delicious treats.

Tails on the Trails

The Morton Arboretum’s Tails on the Trails event allows guests to explore the on-site pet expo with their leashed dogs.This year’s event will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Dogs are allowed on the trails until sunset.

Art in Wilder Park

The 27th Annual Art in Wilder Park is scheduled for Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th from 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission is free and leashed dogs are welcome.

Wilder Park is located at 175 Prospect Avenue. This event brings together up to 10,000 visitors and vendors and is produced by the Elmhurst Art Museum, in partnership with the Elmhurst Park District. Featuring booths by over 80 Midwest artists, 10 nonprofits, 10 food vendors, 10 Kids Court participants, and 20 other local business partners, Art in Wilder Park is fun for the whole family!

Spring Road Pet Parade

Spring Road and Elmhurst Kiwanis present their annual Spring Road Pet Parade on Saturday, May 17th, starting at 11:30 AM. Pets of all types and sizes are welcome at the parade, which steps off at 1 pm.

Pets can prance and strut in a costume, but dressing up is not required. The event includes pet tricks, pet awards, fun activities for the kids, a raffle, and concessions (both of the latter are cash only) with proceeds going to local animal shelters.

Presented by Streetz Artz Alliance, the beloved Pet Market at Soundgrowler Brewing is back for 2025. Join the festivities on Saturday, May 17, from 12 PM to 5 PM for what promises to be a “fun-filled, family-friendly, and pet-centric market featuring unique handmade items for pets and their owners.”

The annual La Grange Pet Parade has marked the beginning of summer for 79 years. This year’s theme is One Sweet Day and the event is scheduled for Saturday, May 31st stepping off at 9:30 AM.
