Celebrating The Original Floofins’ Sweet 16

In this business, it always starts with a pet. In the case of Floofins & Co., it began with two dogs: Priscilla and Portia, our two Maltese puppies. After my husband and I calmed down from our wedding, honeymoon, and moving into a new home, our two floofins waddled into our lives. Last week, our Floofins turned 16. I am extremely grateful that they are still with us and, of course, celebrated them in style. Here’s a little recap of how we came together to celebrate the original floofins’ sweet 16!

Inspiring Humans since 2010

Because Prissy and Portia have been a part of our business from day one, they deserve a great deal of credit for helping lead our team and inspire our company culture. Priscilla, Chief Napping Officer, and Portia, Chief Food Officer, keep me in touch with the “why” behind why I started Floofins & Co. It’s because of them that I recognized a need for a professionally run in-home pet care alternative in 2010. It’s because of them and my dedication to the families of Chicagoland that we continue to pursue our purpose to bring exceptional care to the pets of the area.

Enjoying a Custom-Cake

At 16 years, Prissy and Portia either play like puppies or snooze the day away. On their sweet 16, July 10th, we brought out their playful, food-motivated side by ordering a cake from Happy Dog Barkery. We sang them happy birthday and let them dig in.

Happy Dog Barkery offers many different cake options. Their dog-delighting cake flavors include peanut butter, coconut, pumpkin, ginger molasses, liver, and carob. But, what’s a cake without frosting? We had to choose between cream cheese, applesauce and oat, cabor, and pumpkin and oat frosting. Prissy and Portia loved their avant-garde cake flavors: liver with carob frosting!

Celebrating 16 Years

From singing Happy Birthday to a bone-shaped birthday candle, our family came together to make the girls feel more special than ever. My children, Eden and Sammy, blew out the candles on the girls’ behalf, and Eden even got a crinkle birthday cake toy for Prissy, which she loved.

Not only was it a pleasure to celebrate my sweet girls but, as a mom, it was heartwarming to see my human children and my floofins together at this stage in the girls’ life. They have watched my children grow up and the kids have had them in their lives from day one. Growing a family can be difficult at times but it’s moments like these that make the chaos infinitely worthwhile!

At Floofins and Co. we define Floofin as a furry family member and aim to treat our clients as we would our own Floofins. Though our “Co.” has many furry clients, we also care for feathered, finned, and scaled friends. They are all Floofins to us and we are thankful to Prissy and Portia for leading us down this amazing journey. Fingers and paws crossed that we have the opportunity to celebrate a sweet 17 with these gorgeous girls next year!
