Founded by Pet Sitters International (PSI) in 1995, Professional Pet Sitters Week honors the dedicated professionals who provide exceptional in-home pet care services around the world. The History of Professional Pet Sitters Week

Professional Pet Sitters Week was introduced to honor professional pet-care providers, educate the public about the benefits of in-home pet care, and encourage pet lovers to explore pet sitting as a career. Patti J. Moran, the founder of PSI, began her pet-sitting journey in 1983, pioneering an industry that would grow exponentially over the years. Today, pet sitting is a respected profession, offering a rewarding career path for those passionate about animals.

We believe that our employees deserve fair pay for their hard work and dedication. For this reason, we offer the following compensation package, which far exceeds the industry standard:

$15 – 22 / hour (starting at $15 – $17 per hour plus bonuses and gratuities)

• Mileage reimbursement

Ongoing Training and Education

• Paid training at Floofin University (our proprietary employee online training platform along with live field training)
• Pet CPR, First Aid, and other ongoing learning opportunities
